Stop worshipping them.
Obama, Clinton, are just politicians. This cult of personality is insane.

(604 posts)Still won't treat Democrats as absolutist kings as some people here seem to view them.

Who argued that particular position?
Or do you require that melodramatic allegation to better maintain the pretense of cleverness and relevance?
(This is where you prevaricate and rationalize a complete lack of any evidence supporting your little sentiment)

(604 posts)You take it personal as if I had called your mother ugly names.
Relax, pal. It's politics. You can discuss that without childish attacks.

(7,593 posts)You made a valid point about the worship of politicians but with statements like this you lose all credibility.

(10,173 posts)It's with regard to policy - yes if you squandered your vote or refused to vote, the conservative revanchism currently underway under the Trump administration should be a lesson in civics for you.
And the irony of you complaining about shutting down people's opinions while disingenuously framing the opinions of those you disagree with when people are free to express their opinion on a dem forum, is pretty damn rich.

(7,593 posts)Some have more integrity than others, some are complete and total scumbag pieces of shit (hi donnie).
No person should be worshipped, not politicians, movie actors, rock stars, preachers, etc. I have people I admire, but even they have faults, as all people do. When it comes to politics, I'm afraid that worship of this one or other absolves some folks from doing their job in a democracy, which is to get involved, not leave it up to a savior.

(604 posts)... United States greatest resentment, as a nation, was not having a Royal Family, a King, a Queen, an empire "de facto" and all the pomp and pageantry associated to these.
And that would be the reason why they have built this "imperial aura" to their presidents and all the talk about "patriotism".
Looks like some very bad habits from the old times of "divine aristocracy" have also been imported.

That's cult worship.

(30,481 posts)Is a big part of politics for many and isnt anything new. Worship the individual over the greater good of the collective. I get the emotional attachments. I dont get it when they are so strong they wont allow for one to see past today.
