Not sure why this popped into my head. But I wouldn't put it passed him. There seems to be Tea Bagger shenanigans going on all over everywhere. Maybe I'm getting paranoid.

(94,361 posts)There would be no purpose disrupting discussions here; DU has no impact on politics in the real world.

(15,064 posts)Divide and conquer is Putin's plan and Steve Bannon's plan. The political divides in this country were exploited with Russian propaganda. That's exactly what happened during the election with propaganda. So pooh-poohing something here being done I think is a stretch. Otherwise why would anyone bother to hack and shut down the Democratic Underground which has already happened in the past?

(1,387 posts)Sowing discord , hyper-partisanship, chicken little type hysteria, doom and gloom, sowing distrust in institutions and leaders .
The manufacturing of problems that don't exist is only one of many techniques I've seen employed on DU.
They want you to question your beliefs, to confuse you, to make you lose hope, to drain you emotionally .
They want you apathetic. They want you to give up on the political process. They want you disengaged.
They don't want you to vote.

Republican trolls were well organized on social networks during the 2016 campaign. Democrats should be exploring counter contingency plans b/c these freaks aren't going away anytime soon.

(16,884 posts)There are a lot of trolls on DU lately who seem to go dormant and at first post a lot of tame things and then go full throttle on a topic until its shut down...

(1,427 posts)Today and now the board is readable again! But I suspect they cycle them in and out and have been here for long time as some have many posts (yet they only seem to post on ONE topic and post in the same manner to generate attack is so normal people can be banned). (And for what its worth they often have a location as part of their username)😉

(1,387 posts)Dude, we're all "getting paranoid ". Who could possibly blame us ?
I don't know about O'Keefe but "others" are certainly here. Do you think he's running a troll factory ? I wouldn't be surprised.

(63 posts)O'Keefe prolly doesn't have the resources to make much of an impact on the web, but there certainly are trolls on other sites that clearly have a russian/baltic dialect to their english.
Expect it to flourish again as we get closer to midterms.

(4,448 posts)being paranoid that someone who disagrees with us might post something disagreeable.
Good ideas are immune to chat-board "disruptions". Never ending witch hunts are more disruptive imo.
In any event, I'm not sure what he would accomplish by posting things here. Then again, maybe he has tens of thousands of posts.
Hard to say. Hard to say.

(101,271 posts)He demands hundreds of thousands of dollars from his donors, remember. DU just isn't worth that to anyone. O'Keefe can get his cash screwing up against high profile targets like the Washington Post or Planned Parenthood. The disrupters on DU really are the guys in the basement with a personal obsession.
