Anyone remember James Watt, Ronald Reagan's interior secretary, who came under fire for his racism? This is the same ol' same ol' for the Republican party.

(58,785 posts)in the days of network TV and Walter Cronkite, when the top of the TV was where cats napped because it was warm. For a while Watt's statements popping up had me rolling on our moss-green shag carpet, while the kids scrambled to get their Leggos out of mom's way.
I genuinely missed him when he was booted.
But I didn't know he was a sign the 50-year New Deal era had ended, and I didn't know what was coming.
