As always, when there is a tragedy like this, lots of accusations are thrown about, lots of purity tests, lots of over the top rhetoric, lots of discussion about who is a Democrat. So, let's find out, just what a good Democrat should believe when it comes to guns?

(1,299 posts)respects all rights regardless if you agree with it or not. I hate the racist, vile shit that the KKK, Aryan Nation, Limpballs spew, but I defend their right to spew it, just as I defend my right or anyone else's right, if not a prohibited person, to own firearms.
I think that the more than 21,000 Federal, State and Local gun laws on the books are sufficient.

(1,299 posts)then I would follow it, I wouldn't be happy about it. But it ain't never going to happen.
First you would have to have a Constitutional Convention and then get 2/3 of the states to ratify the repeal, do you honestly think thats going to happen.
If even such a proposal were floated in the congress, you'd see gun owners rally together like never before, and I don't mean the NRA, I mean all 80 million of us, which makes a pretty potent political force.
There would be massive civil disobedience in the country also.

(23,928 posts)The wife, our two sons and I are getting ready to head up to Maine for a two week vacation starting next weekend. (The down side ... no internet access, hence no DU.)
Take care of yourself, bro, and I love you back! (How long untill some asshole tells us to get a room?)

(53,339 posts)Eat some lobster for me. When I went up there, I stayed in a carriage house and had some great lobster. Even at the restaurant, my two-tail lobster meal was only 5 bucks (of course, that was decades ago ).
If you're really going to be offline for that time, we'll miss you. But I know you'll come back like a tiger.

(45,851 posts)"Pro Obama" in this context means "never, ever disagrees with Obama on anything at all, even when Obama does a complete 180 like on the private mandate"..

(32,139 posts)Can we have a poll like this about indefinite detention, "kill lists" and drone wars, pre-emptive war as administration doctrine, spy centers for mining or surveillance of all phone calls and email without a warrant, internet IDs and internet-censoring measures like ACTA, military drones in American skies, coordinated violent crackdowns against peaceful protesters, strip searches for any arrestee, bailouts and settlements for corrupt banks, and austerity budgets in an economy that has already impoverished its middle class?
I wish people would be as vehement about these positions as they are about guns.

(28,552 posts).... and me both. the gun outrage is ludicrous. At least our government COULD do something about the items you list, they cannot do ANYTHING what will make ANY DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER about guns but that doesn't stop the deludinoinds from bleating.
