Looks like Gov. Dayton will be announcing Lt. Gov. Tina Smith As Franken replacement. Been trying to learn more about her. Former VP of Planned Parenthood Minnesota a good sign.

(8,694 posts)So watched some videos. Al Franken has left some very big shoes to fill. He was a bulldog, a force to be reckoned yet, Trump & Co. feared him.
I just want someone with backbone for whats ahead. Does she have one? How long does it take to even learn the ropes of the US Senate? I want to keep Al, this is so sad.

(59,877 posts)Since hearing about her means that Franken's resignation might not be something that can be averted.
A Planned Parenthood background is a HEAVY plus for me, but Franken staying on in the Senate would have been a far bigger one.
