(3,576 posts)this resolution lacks the force of law.
Christmas also exists in a secular context.
But this is more stupidity from the reprehensible right.

(19,491 posts)You can celebrate it and never mention God, Jesus, etc but it's STILL a religious holiday for Christians.

(37,481 posts)Yes, it does not explicitly enshrine Christianity as the state religion or state church, but it comes way too close for me.

(12,448 posts)They "strongly disapprove of attempts to ban references to Christmas." By whom? Where? You go into almost any store and there are Christmas displays all around. Turn on the radio and it's 24/7 Christmas music. Christmas lights on many streets, garish Christmas displays on private houses and lawns. NOBODY is banning references to Christmas. But I suspect whoever wrote this thing is talking about Christmas displays on government property. Roy Moore would be proud.

I was beginning to wonder what was happening to all the symbols of Christmas... Oh, yeah, they started appearing in fucking OCTOBER. So yeah, we need a resolution protecting Christmas... because it didn't start soon enough? How about if we just leave the decorations up all year?

(3,211 posts)Are they doing this because of all the pagan traditions that the Christians took over and made them become part of "their" holiday? Are they worried the pagans will take them back or something?
With all the stuff going on in the world, surely the Congress of the US has better things to do than this?
