My brother is having out-patient surgery on a broken elbow, and I figure since the surgery is "scheduled" for 5 pm (not my idea of a good surgical time, that's for sure) I'm probably looking at spending most of the night in waiting and then post surgical rooms. So my phone and my iPad are fully charged, and I'm bringing the charging cables with me, just in case. I'll be checking in with DU, throughout the 'experience'.
And, of course I'm packing an old fashioned book, too. Perhaps I should consider bringing a pillow.
I was really hoping that after all we've been through, with my mom, sister and aunt, we'd get a much longer respite from hospitals.

I spent countless hours in ERs when my mom was living and they are all on meat-locker temp. My daughter is a nurse and said cold is better for infection control. I think once I had 6 of those thin blankets on Mom and she was still cold.

(26,289 posts)There's just me and my brother left, in the family, so we have to be there for each other. Fortunately, we have a great relationship. However, I AM hoping his girlfriend is planning on taking over, once I get him back to his house!

Second, I've hit the refresh button on my browser about a thousand times watching for the breaking news alluded to last night. I hope we don't have to wait all day!!!!

Good luck, again.
