I always loved Arthur W. Upfield. He was a British/Australian writer whose protagonist was a half caste Aborigine, Boney Bonaparte.
I unearthed them when they were still out of print, and shared them with a library patron who became a good friend. He found them in paperback when they came back into print. When he died, his wife brought them to me. He had them in a bag, labeled with my name. I still have them.
I was so touched by his gesture.
