How can GOP voters not f@!king see!?...

That the only businesses that benefit from their vote are the global mega conglomerates. The ultra billionaires? I mean for fucks sake even if all you are looking at is the economy and donít give much of a shit about the average person, it STILL doesnít make much sense to vote GOP unless you are among the upper echelon of the business world. Yes I know they have drank the koolaid and vote against their interests, they believe they too could be the next billionaire . But for fucks sake. Iím not even arguing morals here which of course are a separate even larger bag of shit.

Iím fucking angry because even as a non American this is affecting us globally. Things like the net neutrality ruling will have ripple effects. Other nations will follow suite. And when monopolies like Dinsey and others are allowed to grow ever larger it doesnít just affect the US. These are giant global conglomerates and the lack of competition is felt across the world.

How the fuck does it benefit 99.9% of GOP voters to have zero competition in increasingly large sectors of the business world!? How the fuck does it benefit almost ANY GOP voters to suddenly have to pay 200% more for the same internet service quality they used to have, just because their ISP can now charge them extra for the same services at the same speeds. It makes no fucking sense how anyone but the Bill Gates of the world would WANT to vote for this!?

Conservatives keep talking about the free hand of the market solving everything. How less regulation means more innovation, more competition, means more solutions. Do they even ever fucking look at what they are actually voting for!? Itís the exact fucking opposite you morons! Sure less regulation. But with it MUCH less competition, and MUCH less innovation as nobody can afford to innovate any longer.

This cancer isnít confined to the US either as I said. Global monopolies hurt all of us. Many of the things the GOP does hurt people around the world, not just in the US. Fuck these scum bags.

5. I'm assuming your

Canadian judging by the Canadian Flag you have on your post. I remember being in Las Vegas a few months ago and deciding to go take a trip to the Grand Canyon. Vegas offers shuttles to the Grand Canyon that you can purchase for a trip. Long story short I took a shuttle and ended up talking to a bunch of Canadians on the shuttle while going to the Grand Canyon. They sounded just like you and when I told them how many stupid people are in the US they were dead shocked. I told them straight up be thankful that your not in a country that's ruled by a bunch of conservative nutcases. The problem is like I told them is that the majority of republicans are programmed to accept authoritarian rule. That's how their minds are wired. They believe anything they are told by the republican party and just accept it at a face value. They are not wired to question authority or to examine various solutions to solve a problem. Also factor in that a majority of them are racist so they would gladly cut their nose off to spite themselves.

6. The thing is that the differences between Canada and the US really aren't that great in many ways...

There are a few massive differences that make ALL the difference but the reality of the situation is that in terms of day to day life you would be hard pressed to notice much different between any major metropolitan city in the US and Canada. We have plenty of racism here, plenty to be ashamed about. Over the last few years for example we have been dealing with a massive story about how we as a country basically committed cultural genocide against the native american population here. Thousands died in government run schools, families ripped apart, native cultures suppressed and purposefully destroyed. Our right wing here is very racist, very entitled, very pro wealthy, they want much of what the right wing in the US has. The few but MAJOR differences that I mentioned are that politically speaking our country isn't quite as partisan as yours is and not quite everything is up for the highest bidder. Universal Health care here for example, although it has its issues, is largely supported by even right wing governments, though they wish to make changes in it for the worse. We don't have the violent gun culture you guys have despite there being plenty of guns. There is nowhere near the opposition and amount of push back against some base level sensible laws on things like basic gun control and the like. We have a government funded national media in the form of the CBC that is basically central left and we don't have the equivalent of a fox news. But go out into the country side here and you will hear plenty of conservative talk. I hear right wing people here speak in favour of Trump. I honestly don't feel that the average Canadian questions things that much, or is all that well informed. The main difference is that we don't have something like fox news pumping pure unadulterated lies into 1/2 the homes in the nation disguised as legit news. And at the government level we generally have some saner heads in a few more places, and a little more understanding that some things are needed by all. The differences really aren't that much different though.

7. There's not a lot of

differences but the differences that Canada has compared to the US is huge. For example you point out Universal Healthcare and I have to say the US is super backwards that at the rate we are going we are probably 40-50 years away from getting Universal Healthcare. A lot of that is due to the conservative nutcases in this country that views Universal Health care as government socialist takeover and also racism in the sense they don't want non-whites to have it. There is no a large segment of our population that has been programmed to believe government is evil and corporations are good. You have already pointed out the gun culture differences but it's also a huge reason why people vote republican in the US. Racism exists everywhere all over the world but I would say racism in the US is a lot worse than Canada. I doubt you have the extreme outwards racism in Canada towards minorities that you have in the US such as racial profiling by Cops. Also in the US we have never resolved the racial tension with blacks when it came to slavery, Jim Crow, which influences people to vote republican. We also have a scared white electorate that does not want to be a minority and feels by voting republican that they can prevent a minority majority America from happening. I don't know how religious Canada is but I willing to bet Canada doesn't deal with as many crazy religious zealot nutcases that US has. The US is very different than Canada when it comes to racism, religion, gun control, anti-government. All these issues I have mentioned are why people vote republican.

9. We may not have as much visible racism..

But there is a lot under the surface and it definitely affects things like arrest rates. I definitely hear my share of racism on a regular basis. Although I'm 1/2 Chinese I look almost 100% white so I get to benefit from white privilege most of the time. But I know that people of colour here have to fear being stopped and arrested too. That being said the prison system is nowhere near as draconian here as there. You guys were the first to legalize weed on a state level though which says something about areas of the US being pretty liberal. Although we will legalize it federally next year. One of the main driving forces behind what separates our countries is that money isn't quite behind the scenes corrupting everything in quite the way here as it is there. I mean sure it is, but not on the level that it is there. We don't have the urge to privatize everything all the time.

31. The fact that Canada

is legalizing Weed nationally shows again that you guys are a lot of different than the US. Weed legalization nationally across the US probably won't happen for at least another 20 years. It shows that you guys can implement progressive policies a lot of faster than here in the US. In the US we have some super liberal areas like the Northeast and the West Coast but unfortunately we have a lot of super conservative areas that cancels out the influence of the liberal areas. I doubt Canada has that type of problem but I could be wrong.

10. K&R. Thanks - many of us are as baffled as you.

Our Repug voters have been brainwashed with mostly emotional, patriotic and nationalistic issues and that's what most of their votes are based on. Most show little interest in real government policy issues and they've also been inoculated with a hearty dose of anti-government and anti-tax dogma.

Also, as others have said, most "follow the leader" which may be the dominant male in the home or their right-wing church pastor, or even one of many right-wing media personalities such as Rush Limbaugh. These phenomena are things the USA will simply have to out-grow in time. As you can see, we now feel we're in the "one step back" mode with Trump.

My Canadian best friend here has always told me that Canada is actually quite conservative, but noting like to the extremes of our right-wingers. More on the order of our old-time moderate conservatives.

13. What still shocks me

Is how they continue to make excuses for Trumpís depraved behavior.

Take my Trump-loving sister-in-law. Despite being a good person with a good heart, her blind spot when it comes to Trump drives me mad. The other day, for example, I posted a link on my FB page to an article about Trump hosting terrorist-enabler Wayne LaPierre at the White House on the 5th anniversary of Sandy Hook. She replied that I wasnít being fair, that it was a holiday party to which a lot of different people were invited. My response to her was that the families of the dead children were probably not feeling so festive.

This exchange came a day or two after we had the FB equivalent of a shouting match over Roy Moore. I had complained about Trump campaigning for the pervert, and her response was ďWhat about Al Franken?Ē It incensed me that anyone in her right mind would equate Al Franken to a loathsome child molester. But thatís what the Cult of the Con Man has come to - defending the indefensible, dragging public servants like Mueller and Franken into the mud to justify their own devil worship.

Itís a sickness. Itís the only way I can explain it.

It's a bitter pill to swallow, I know; my aunt, my uncle and my sister are also idiot racist fuckheads.

It's not that politics have divided our family. Rather, their support of Trump has revealed their true bigoted nature, and I see no reason to tolerate it.

25. People are complex...

Complex in their positive as well as negative traits. I have met plenty of people that I thought were amazingly good people and then one day they say or do somethingthat floors me. And I question if my initial assumption is something I should totally rework or if I should be more understanding of the complexity of human nature. Many a good person has deep flaws, many a liberal minded individual as well. I'm not excusing people supporting Trump but I do have issues someties writing people off when I know there are aspects of myself that are less than stellar.

14. They literally live in an alternative reality...

...with a completely different set of facts. Net neutrality, for example, has a much larger definition than what it actually is: All 1ís and 0ís on the wire are the same regardless of source and destination. Thatís it. They have somehow wrapped up in there the government censoring the internet and corporations deciding who can and cannot use their platforms (like Facebook banning Naziís and such). Itís insane.

18. All true.

Wednesday of last week my friend posted on FB to express her joy that Moore had been defeated.

One of her friends replied "No good choices in Alabama, either a pedophile or a baby killer."

I don't know him personally, but I jumped all over him for his bullshit. He clearly wasn't prepared for someone to question him, because he immediately responded with "I'm not looking for an argument."

So I replied "No, you want people to accept the same bullshit that you've accepted, without thinking about it."

They truly are idiots, and they truly do equate reproductive freedom with "baby killing."

I wish that the Rapture would happen already and take these stupid fuckers up to eternity with whatever cruel, bigoted, hateful god they've envisioned for themselves.

21. The difference between a fetus and a baby they refuse to acknowledge

Like murder. At common law, murder was a crime and abortion was a crime and there were two different words to mark that distinction. I could have a little respect for their view if they simply said "We want abortion to be a crime again," rather than continually calling it murder.

That's a good way to put it. I would still hate their opinion, but at least they'd be transparent about it.

Of course, nothing kills Republican propaganda faster than transparency, so we shouldn't expect it any time soon.

33. The Amazing thing to me is that those self interests extend to even the upper middle class...

Even the upper middle class would be better off under the Democrats or indeed almost any more central or central left government. Only the really high end of the upper class and into the ultra wealthy really benefit that much from the GOP. Universal health care for example would benefit almost all except those whose wealth is almost entirely within the medical insurance industries.

is at 37.1%. That means he has already lost one in five of his supporters in eleven months.

IMO, strong Trump/GOP support is based on deep-seated bigotry. I married into a GOP family and have met a lot of right-wingers. Everything they believe is not based on facts, but on resentment, anger and misinformation.

The job of the GOP pundit is to convince the average voter that the other guy isn't looking out for their best interests, only to trick them into voting against their best interests. And it's worked so well for them but their bubble is starting to burst. We saw that last week in Alabama.
