Goodyear workers' union local authorizes strike
According to posts on the United Steelworkers Local 12 Facebook page, the union representing Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company employees in Gadsden conducted a “strike authorization” vote Tuesday and Wednesday.
Results of the vote: 99 percent “yes,” the post said.
The company’s last contract negotiations were in 2013, when a four-year agreement was reached. The strike authorization vote is a preliminary step in the negotiations set to take place this year.
