Three years after Supreme Court ruling, at least 8 Alabama counties won't issue marriage licenses

My wife and I were married by the Pike County probate judge. Simple civil marriage and service.

Today, we would not be married by the judge.

3. If marriage is one of the sacraments, then are they denying religious freedom?

4. To deny same-sex marriages...

they are denying all marriages in these counties.

You can have a church wedding, but it will have to be legally filed in another county that does marriages.

I know all our close relatives in the area gathered and witnessed our vows in Judge Stone's office, and it was short and sweet. Civil weddings are supposed to be a convenience and an alternative - especially as you start to add them up over the years. Divorce is not a sacrament.
