Reporting in from the STOP KAVANAUGH protest

in San Diego. Hardly any young voters there. Don't they realize their futures are at stake?!? Such APATHY!

There were very clever speakers and music. There were chairs set up on both sides of the podium on the stage for the justices of the SCOTUS who dressed in robes and there was a Ruth Ginsburg too. There was a speaker dressed as a handmaid but was a a male immigrant from Syria and a student. There was a 9 year old trans kid who was so wonderful...he spoke with such confidence and poise. Afterwards I had to shake his hand and his mom's too. The justices were called "The Supremes". Musicians called The Resisters played really good music too.

How do we get younger people to care?!?! It is very frustrating to say the least.

*I spoke to a lot of people and they are all aware of the Climate March on Sept 8th in thousands of US cities and hundreds around the world ahead of the big conference in San Francisco....

On Sept 8 we’re planning thousands of actions and events in cities and towns around the world to demand our local leaders commit to building a fossil free world that works for all of us. No more stalling, no more delays: it's time for 100% renewable energy for all.

This September, cities, states, businesses and civil society from around the world are gathering in California for the Global Climate Action Summit.

The Summit has invited every mayor, governor, and business leader in the world to make a bold climate commitment to help the world reach the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.

Plan or join an event on September 8. If your elected officials commit, your rally can be a celebration. If they fail to act, it's a chance to hold them accountable.

Flew into Mumbai. The air quality was horrible. Then a train journey 250 miles north to my home town, Vadodara. being a smaller city than Mumbai, I expected better air to breathe. It was even more polluted there and dustier. I am never going back.

Write a thread here on DU asking for them to please get woke PRONTO!!! Maybe include a template email or message for them to read by calling a number and then it's easy to read or copy and paste. Include both phone numbers and email (easy to click on it) for easy access of the DU to raise hell with their senators. It had been a thought I've had and soubda silly but short of driving them to the damn polls as they seem pretty lax in my area.

As for young voters, i think gun control is the issue needed to get to them. Their lives are at stake in schools.

If you talk to young voters point out that Scalia and all the Republican scotus judges block gun control. Kavanaugh will too. Their lives are at stake in this confirmation.

JUST WAIT til the abortion thing goes sideways....then it will be too late. I think kids generally are so tuned out bc of the relentlessness of the story on tv...EVery GD day. I think kids GENERALLY today are tuned out bc it seems like it's rigged now anyway and they just go along w it. Parents relly have to get kids engaged or else they're future will be determined by others. Good job on your really and SO opposition. CC
