Alaska is, by far, the largest state in the U.S. It is also one of the least-populated states, with vast, protected open spaces. From the North Slope through Denali Park to the Aleutian Islands, the Kenai Peninsula, the Inside Passage, and much more, here are a few glimpses of the landscape of Alaska, and some of the wildlife and people calling it home.

1. Thanks for posting this.

I don't think I've ever seen so many photos of Alaska that honestly gave me a real feel of the land including the human portions. I kept saying "Wow" and "Oh, my gosh". Really beautiful and clearly mostly still wild.

2. My daughter is a 4th generation Floridian

She moved to Anchorage three years ago and loves it. To her Daddy, it would be a frozen Hell, but I can understand the draw of the beauty of the place. She has also found the people to be quite friendly. Her mother and I find it difficult to be 16 air hours away from her, but everyone has to run their own life.

6. My son is in his 2nd year up there

We're from the midwest, so it's actually warmer in the winter there than here. Cooler in the summer.

We drove up together when he moved and that was a wonderful drive. Been up a few times. He is very happy that skiing is now open again.

Name a TV show about life in Alaska and I can say I've watched every episode going back years. I've watched every documentary, NatGeo and otherwise. I need to go there before I get too old.
