Developers of Anchorage office building take Alaska lawmakers to court

The developers of the downtown Anchorage building abandoned by the Alaska Legislature are taking state lawmakers to court.

716 West Fourth Ave. LLC, owned by developers Mark Pfeffer and Bob Acree and referring to the address of the building, filed the case Tuesday. It's technically an appeal of the developers' $37 million damages claim rejected by a legislative committee last month.

The damages claim came after Anchorage Superior Court Judge Patrick McKay ruled lawmakers' no-bid lease for the downtown building was illegal and invalid. Anchorage legislators now occupy offices in Spenard purchased from Wells Fargo.

The case is assigned to Anchorage Superior Court Judge Jack Smith.
