FYI: As many of you may be aware, we were planning to start a 30-day name change amnesty period today, but there has been a slight delay on that. We are still hoping to begin it today if we can, but we'll keep you updated. I will post an announcement when the name change amnesty begins.

While the main intent is to allow members with anti-Trump usernames the chance to pick something new, anyone will be able to do it if they choose. It's completely optional though. Full details will be posted soon.

I wish I could afford to give, but this year has been so rough. That's why I was so thankful for very heart I was given.

This site has been one of the only respites we have had in the last 4 years. I know there are lots of us who needed this space to vent and to hope for a brighter future. Thanks DU and DU members who helped keep us sane in these insane times.

Huh..just saw the maintenance issue. DU has been a little slow in opening for me in the last two days..I suppose it is connected to the views and recs issue.
(I use Vivaldi with an adblocker if that helps.)

but I think EarlG said in another post the former name would be listed with the new name for a month.
personally, I get "lost" when people change their avatars, I often don't remember names
