Administration Official Criticizes Israeli Ambassador Over Netanyahu Visit
Source: NY Times
The Obama administration, after days of mounting tension, signaled on Wednesday how angry it is with Israel that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted Republican leaders invitation to address Congress on Iran without consulting the White House.
The outrage the episode has incited within President Obamas inner circle became clear in unusually sharp criticism by a senior administration official who said that the Israeli ambassador, Ron Dermer, who helped orchestrate the invitation, had repeatedly placed Mr. Netanyahus political fortunes above the relationship between Israel and the United States.
The official who made the comments to The New York Times would not be named, and the White House declined to comment. The remarks were the latest fallout after Mr. Dermer, without the White Houses knowledge, worked with House Speaker John A. Boehner to arrange the speech, which is scheduled for March.
The remarks are likely to escalate a feud between the White House, Republicans on Capitol Hill and Mr. Netanyahu over the invitation, which has led to a new low in American-Israeli relat ions and threatened to mar the long tradition of bipartisan support for Israel in Congress.

(43 posts)I had just got done reading the same article earlier this morning and it left me scratching my head over one of Ron Dermer's statements in this article:
"...He said he never meant to slight the White House by keeping the confidence of the House speaker, who had suggested the invitation..."
It compelled me to go searching for one of the articles I read a day or two ago which had very interesting statement indeed, considering Derner's statement above. I did locate the article, written by Rick Ungar and posted on Forbes.com dated 1/25/15:
"..the plan to have the Israeli Prime Minister speak to Congress, without first discussing with the White House, was the brainchild of Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Ron Dermer who has, for weeks now, been endorsing the re-election of Bibi Netanyahu on American television programs despite explicit Israeli Civil Service regulations prohibiting him from doing so."
What a snake this guy is. According to the Forbes article, he was the one poking at the bee's nest and who is now all too happy to let Boehner take the stings by making us think this was all the Orange Dude's idea.
On the other hand, the Orange Dude can't do anything but sit there and take it, since to admit he took the bait from Dermer would prove once and for all what a tool he is for the Zionists and therefore a clear and present danger to U.S. security.
This statement from the NYT article nails it, Hes (Dermer's) a political operative, hes not really an ambassador, said Daniel C. Kurtzer, a former United States ambassador to Israel."
There is no question in my mind that Dermer should be declared persona non grata and removed from this country pronto. In addition, Boehner should step down immediately as his is clearly unfit and a threat to U.S. diplomacy and security.
This subterfuge should be headline news. The citizens of this country need to take notice of the entities who are pulling the strings in our government and the names of everyone who are their puppets, both willing and unwilling (you know, compromised politicians). Time to clean up the cesspool and take control of our own government again.

Sadly, I think it's more like the mass media IS aware of it but so far, are going out of their way to avoid linking those significant pieces of information. After all, "journalists" have to dance to their bosses' agendas which are often questionable at best.
We need to be ever-aware that the narrative is under very tight control in this country and it is up to us to cry "foul" as often and as loudly as we can. We can't depend on the press to do right by us.

Israeli Embassy asking for asylum?
He should be.
If it stinks of political fuckuppery, you already know Fox is not far away from the corpse.
As a concerned Citizen, I demand the Israeli Amassador launch a full investigation into this, or be sent packing.
NYT saying the Aministration just NOW "signalled" it's displeasure? So WTF were all those cannons going off in the WH for the last week about, having a fucking cannon party in the West Wing?
Nice framing of the issue by the WH, focusing on Dermer and avoiding the Bibi/Obama awkwardness and the unravelling of the permanent Israel and Americal special relationship, a discussion the media is reluctant to have, for obvious reasons.
The media will discuss Dermer, though.....

(43 posts)...and at this point, I wouldn't bet on that.
However, if we refuse to allow the blow-back to subside and Boehner stills goes through with this, their response will be a very interesting dilemma for our precious "patriots" and will tell us which country for which they are so patriotic. They might find themselves cornered just like Orange Dude.

(13 posts)These GOP types are only following orders. It isn't as if that's a secret. I imagine that looking in the mirror in the a.m is pretty painful for them, knowing how they're going to look in history books, and what they're doing to their families' names. It's not unlike the old Bond flick, Dr.No.
