Florida House Republicans eager to Rebuke Obama on New Cuba policy
Source: Tamba Bay Times
A rebuke to President Barack Obama for re-establishing diplomatic relations with Cuba received the full-throated support Thursday of a committee in the conservative Florida House of Representatives.
The legislation, which expresses "profound disagreement" with the president's decision and opposes the opening of a Cuban consulate or diplomatic office anywhere in Florida, is largely symbolic. If approved by the full House and Senate, it would formally petition Congress to act but not require it to do so.

(14,255 posts)I talked to Republicans who swore that we did indeed have expanded Medicaid. He proposed it right before his lapdog legislators went on their extended vacation, and of course nothing much was done with it.
Even though the GOP may okay it for the basest of reasons, hope it gets done. And hope the criteria are not such that it is still hard to qualify.

If it passes in Florida its probably to balance our budget as well. I'm with you that it should be a system that actually helps people out, but knowing these guys they'll find some loop hole to steal the funds.

CNN/ORC Poll: Americans side with Obama on Cuba
By Jeremy Diamond, CNN
Updated 4:41 PM ET, Tue December 23, 2014
President Barack Obama is taking some heat from Republicans on Capitol Hill for reestablishing diplomatic relations with Cuba, but a CNN/ORC poll released Tuesday shows he has the public's backing.
About six in 10 Americans favor diplomatic relations with Cuba and two-thirds want the travel restrictions to the island lifted, according to the poll of 1,011 Americans conducted after Obama announced a landmark deal with Cuba to relax sanctions and ease some travel restrictions.
Obama relaxed some sanctions and gave a green light to establish an embassy in Havana, but he can't end the embargo against Cuba outright without Congressional approval. More than half of Americans surveyed -- 55% want the embargo lifted.
