Willie Wilson to endorse Jesus 'Chuy' Garcia

After a high-stakes courtship by both candidates aimed at luring the pivotal black vote, millionaire businessman Willie Wilson has decided to endorse Jesus Chuy Garcia over Mayor Rahm Emanuel in the April 7 runoff.
Wilson said he made the decision, as first reported on chicago.suntimes.com, based on the feedback he got from literally hundreds, if not thousands, of his supporters through emails, phone calls and his extensive network of black churches.
Hes also held three-to-five private meetings with both Emanuel and Garcia to press his demands for both candidates to reopen at least some of the record 50 schools that Emanuel closed, eliminate red-light cameras and establish fairness in the awarding of city jobs and contracts.

Wilson finished third in the Feb. 24 election with 10.6 percent of the votes cast. But his 50,960 votes represented 21.9 percent of the vote in predominantly black wards.

(25,272 posts)There's a big opportunity here for the People of Chicago to vote out Mayor 1%.
The most important thing now is for Chuy and his people to GOTV. They need to push hard in the neighborhoods and let the People know how important their one vote is to really impart change in Chicago. They need to rally those who had their schools closed down.
They need to rally those that were ignored by Rahm.
Just think if they could pull off beating Mayor 1% how that would empower potential voters all around the country to do the same in their communities and unseat the money rich candidates that neglect them.
Let's get the People of Ferguson to do the same - GOTV - so they could change their community. If such change could come to Chicago and Ferguson - because of the power of the People - the power of the vote - over money - this could be contagious and happen all over the country.
