Ted Cruz: ‘I am running for president of the United States’

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) announced -- again -- his candidacy for president in a speech this morning at a landmark of the American evangelical movement, Liberty University.

"Today, I am announcing that I am running for president of the United States," Cruz said, about 20 minutes into a speech to students here. "Ted! Ted!" students yelled.

"It is the time for truth. It is the time for liberty. It is the time to reclaim the Constitution of the United States," Cruz said.

The content of Cruz's announcement speech -- which embraced the goals of evangelical Christians, military hawks and small-government tea partiers -- illustrated the broad Republican coalition he is hoping to assemble. The location of the announcement, at an evangelical college, showed that Cruz hopes to mobilize young people behind a campaign that will start at the back of the GOP pack.

Like Mike Castle here in Delaware - he's old school republican. Which is why he is no longer in office. Lost to batshit crazy Christine O'Donnell in the primaries (who lost in the general election).

Republicans who believed in the values of people like Lincoln, Eisenhower
and Goldwater are few and far between. The crazies are running the asylum now.

From one oil-centered province to an oil-centered state.

Plus the Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, also from Alberta, is a born again, oil man, Bush clone. (At least Harper is literate in English and passable in French)

Meh, nobody seems to care, do they. Not even here.

Well, I still feel like making an issue of it. When I'm not laughing at this ass-clown all over again, that is.
