Morocco king orders laws changed to allow abortion for incest, rape, danger to mother's health

RABAT, Morocco — Moroccan King Mohammed VI has ordered the laws restricting abortion in the African country to be loosened, allowing it in cases of rape, incest, danger to the mother's health or fetal malformation.

The royal palace statement reported by the state news agency said the decision followed recommendations by the justice minister, the religious affairs minister and the head of the official human rights organization.

Previously Moroccan law only allowed abortion if there was a threat to the mother's health. But a rare debate erupted in society starting in February about easing restrictions.

The recommendations committee said a "vast majority" of Moroccans still backed keeping abortion illegal except for a few exceptions.

Last time I checked, He is guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

From the Occupation/Apartheid of Western Sahara to systemic human rights abuses during the Arab Spring.

abortion he is more enlightened then may of the uber conservative Americans, as well as Muslims in other Islamic countries.

Considering 1) some of the war crimes committed by the Bush Jr crowd, 2) the countries whose government we helped overthrow because they were not governments we approved of (ex. overthrowing Allende in Chile), 3) a militarized police force that pretty much acts at they wish with no consequence, 4) commercializing prisons for profits, and so on and so on - you cannot exactly claim that the US is an enlightened country either. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. We are just not in any way shape or form in a position to play the holier then thou card.

do as we say not as we do mentality.

If you line up the beliefs of the Christian Taliban they line up with the Islamic Taliban. With the Republican Party, Tea Party, 1%ers, MIC and Uber Conservatives I just don't think that you can look upon the US as anywhere near enlightened anymore. Just look at the recent Amtrak accident and the Republicans immediately cut Amtrak funding. Or candidates like Jeb Bush who say that an Apple watch is better then Obamacare. We just need to stop all the hyprocricy.
