Republicans criticize Clinton for not talking to press

Source: AP

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Republican presidential hopefuls gathered in Iowa are taking jabs at Democratic candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton for not fielding more questions from the press.

Former business executive Carly Fiorina says that if Clinton is going to run for president, "she is going to have to answer some questions."

Fiorina spoke at a dinner hosted by the Iowa Republican Party that drew about 1,300 people Saturday. Also chiming in was Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, who joked about whether Clinton "ever takes any questions."

FULL short story at link.

I've run the headline through the universal translator, and see that it actually reads:

"Republicans Go Apeshit With Frustration As They Try To Gin Up Phoney Scandals, But Clinton Refuses To Play."

I'm actually quite happy with Clinton's apparent new strategy of dealing with the conservative echo chamber's fake scandal machine. They're doing their usual thing of going round and round and round the conservative echo chamber with the fake scandals about email servers, and the Clinton Foundation etc., but it has absolutely no traction until some tawdry, low level member of the mainstream media plays ball, and asks her about it. And when they do, it suddenly transits from the fact-free conservative news bubble to the (somewhat) legitimate news world.

By refusing to legitimize these fake scandals, Hilary is really starting to impress me. I don't like all of her qualities, but she's certainly got some good ones, to be sure.

Perhaps, his interview meltdown over dislike from being challenged on his flip-flops in positions, if he does end up with the nomination he'll be twisting himself up into a pretzel flip-flopping back to his Libertarian positions -- he should hide from the media. It is the Arizona GOP election strategy, avoid debates & television appearences -- this is mostly for state office. It really bums me Rotellini on a statewide election for AG lost back-to-back 50/50 elections, only one really willing to take a firm position on policies while the other guys lose in landslides.

deal with the press. Too many times the press frames the elections with their early analysis and their chasing of every insignificant thing. It leaves too little discussion of what the actual American wants and how they feels. We are saturated with polls from everywhere. Talk to the people first.

That's over two months ago. It's a long time to go without having a press conference. Why not get everything out in the open, and refute the suspicions and accusations raised against her? There are plenty of questions that she should try to answer, and these questions do not just come from Republicans, but also from some Democrats and Independents.

It's not always a good thing, that visceral anger and rabble rousing. Hubris and mendacity can take it in odd directions....

There is a danger to freezing out the press. Al Gore paid the price for it in 2000 with reporter actually saying "He's going to pay for this". On the other hand, they love to twist everything she says beyond recognition. The good news, however, is that the mainstream political press is becoming less and less relevant.

I can still remember him pretending he could not hear Sam Donaldson's questions about Iran Contra over the sound of the helicopter rotors on the South Lawn of the WH. Of course the Republicans AND the press, for the most part, thought it was cute and presidential.
