U.S. Republicans claim enough votes to pass fast-track trade bill

Source: Reuters

Top Republicans predicted on Sunday that both chambers of Congress would muster the votes to pass the "fast-track" authority sought by President Barack Obama to negotiate major trade deals, despite opposition from Obama's fellow Democrats.

"Yes, we’ll pass it. We'll pass it later this week," Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said in an interview with ABC.

Republican U.S. Representative Paul Ryan said on CNN's "State of the Union" that he was confident the measure would also pass the House of Representatives.

"We will have the votes," said Ryan, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. "We're doing very well. We're gaining a lot of steam and momentum."

Ask them if they want to pass a bill that takes away our nation's sovereignty, that Tea Party people especially complain about with things like the UN. Tell them you'll explain to other Republican neighbors of yours how they would want to pass ISDS doing this taking away of our sovereignty and ask them if they really want a congress person that supports such actions.

There's many ways to skin a cat. Just like there are many corporate Republicans that want this to pass along with the corporate Democrats, there are many in the house that aren't so "corporate" in their allegiance, that would share the same feelings that we do that they shouldn't pass this mess, even if we may disagree with them on so many other issues that we're being manipulated in to focusing on instead of the TPP.

Some of them might even vote against it just by being asked why they are supporting something that the person they hate so much, Obama, is the one trying to drive it getting passed.
