(10,494 posts)She was living at the top of a tall hill in Wimberly, having to cross a creek twice to get there. She fell and twisted her ankle which scared her. I convinced her to move in with me in S.E. Texas. She would either be stranded in her home or unable to get home if she was still there. She had to go down River Road to get to her house as well. We avoided the floods that hit Houston and counties just to our North, although it's pretty wet here still.

(30,151 posts)It's risen 18' in three months- 12 feet above where it should be-
Some co-workers can't get to their boats at Texoma since all the dock ramps are under water- It's 26 feet over average and they won't let any water out at the dam- worried about downstream flooding

(3,995 posts)Last night, my daughter was in downtown Houston and I couldn't even get on the road in front of my house because of flooding. I had to turn around and I could not pick her up. I'm still trying to get her home.
I've never seen flooding like this in Houston. Even with hurricanes and tropical storm Allison. There are certain parts of Houston that always flood when it rains, but parts of Houston that have never flooded did last night.

(22,651 posts)happy I have the land drainage set-up to meet the extreme weather, extreme rains from global climate change. The house would have flooded if not.
Houston has many underpasses that always flood to the brim. The drainage in Houston is horrible. Its from the 50s and will not work for todays epic rains.
