PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) — A malnourished, abused 5-year-old girl has died, police said Wednesday, and authorities have removed another severely malnourished child and two other apparently healthy children from the southeastern Michigan home where she was found.

The dead girl's 27-year-old father and 25-year-old stepmother were arrested and were being held pending charges, Port Huron public safety director Chief Michael Reaves told reporters Wednesday afternoon.

"There is evidence of foul play present at the scene. We are treating this as a homicide investigation," Reaves said.

Port Huron police said they responded Tuesday night to a report of an unresponsive child. The girl was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Need to spend the rest of their lives behind bars. This is premeditated murder in the cruelest way possible.

By slashing budgets for child protection services, the anti government GOP make sure more of these tragedies are going to occur. Children are unprotected, but since they do not make campaign contributions, they do not matter to the GOP politicians. Children are expendable according to GOP politicians once they are born.

The GOP is pro-death.

Rest in peace poor little baby. What a horrible tragedy.

more on justice than on vengeance, but something like this make me want to exercise vengeance in a way that is anything but humane.

If the current all-Repub government hasn't re-established it by now, they probably won't.

But these monsters will need to be kept in isolated confinement, not in the general prison populations. Or their fates will be, as you say, anything but humane.
