GE union rallies Friday

Source: Item Live

By Cyrus Moulton

Union workers are organizing solidarity rallies on Friday at General Electric in West Lynn and plants across the country, just three days before contract negotiations are scheduled to open with the company.

“They told us we have to cut costs; they call it ‘the path to competitiveness,’” said Ric Casilli, who is the business agent for Local 201 of the International Union of Electrical Workers and the Communications Workers of America (IUE-CWA).

The union local represents nearly 1,500 workers at the GE Lynn River Works plant. Casilli will be heading to New York City to help negotiate a new contract as member of the National Union Negotiating Committee. Talks begin June 1.

“Our philosophy for years is a union worker is a productive, conscientious worker,” he said.

he has three books (trilogy) out that brings back memories of what and how the right wingers have operated under since for ever, and currently today under there modi operandi.

And from the past to the current system Lemuel Boulware and Ronald Reagan and there tactics are still in operation just under a new team of corporate individuals at GE.

"the path to competitiveness"

If they GE were on this "path to competitiveness" then why did they get bought by another corporate oligarpghy called Comcast------------isn't that a monopoly?

If I remember in my statistics and economics classes, monopolies only want to charge a higher fee for greed and cut competition and wages to make this "greed", it has nothing to do with benefits at all, it's is when they cut benefits they add to the wall street game of shifting numbers to make the market price in the Ponzi scheme, while thousand or retirees pay at the end and drive more costs onto the tax payers.

If you are 16 billion year profit machine and by the way paid ZERO , NADA, ZILCH in federal TAXES , because the profits are offshored, while the workers have to pay there fair share at the state and federal level, what does this have to do by pitting those that already get Medicare supplements.

Lets also not forget that this "deal" TPP has in the language, a provision to take $700 million out of Medicare for the next 6 years wiping out $4.2 TRILLION in funded dollars to help retrain human beings being laid off by corporations like GE, because they were in on this trade "deal" with there lobbyists---------so lets try to screw the current employees and cut there supplemental Medicare payments -----then we can go and get this corrupt right wing Congress to pass this TPP "deal" to rob Peter to pay Paul, and then blame government as the problem, because the funding has been cut and privatize it to lets say GE -------------what a scheme.

I think that would be a good start in negotiations and a reminder

In fact I think I am going to make a call so that this is covered for the UNION negotiations and give them my support-------------its time to be another progressive activist
