Oneida Tribe legalizing same-sex marriage

Same-sex marriage is about to be legal among members of the Oneida Tribe.
Effective June 10, the Oneidas will recognize marriages between members of the same sex, the tribe said in a news release Thursday afternoon. Same-sex marriage became legal in Wisconsin this past year.
Oneida law now defines marriage as between "husband and wife." The change replaces "husband and wife" with "spouses."
The change results from a unanimous vote of the Oneida Business Committee, the tribe said.
