Israeli premier warns of Palestinian boycott campaign

JERUSALEM (AP) Israel faces an "international campaign to blacken its name" aimed at delegitimizing its very existence regardless to its policies, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday. The international community disproportionally singles out the Jewish state for condemnation while remaining silent on major conflicts and human rights abuses in other countries, he said.
Netanyahu made the comments Sunday at a meeting of his new Cabinet just days after a Palestinian proposal to suspend Israel from world football was dropped at the last moment. Netanyahu warned that although attempts by the Palestinians to suspend Israel from the international soccer arena this weekend were rebuffed, efforts to boycott Israel continue. Palestinians accelerated their campaign to boycott Israel and Israeli-made products after peace talks collapsed last year.
"We are in the midst of a great struggle being waged against the state of Israel, an international campaign to blacken its name. It is not connected to our actions; it is connected to our very existence. It does not matter what we do; it matters what we symbolize and what we are," Netanyahu said.
"I think that it is important to understand that these things do not stem from the fact that if only we were nicer or a little more generous we are very generous, we have made many offers, we have made many concessions that anything would change because this campaign to delegitimize Israel entails something much deeper that is being directed at us and seeks to deny our very right to live here," he said.

True, the conservative/reform faction are trying to sell us on war, on being a sidekick for *any* war that the US wants, but our history of independence is too deep, I think, to be forgotten so quickly and easily.
Even Alberta showed weakness in the conservative/reform front.
I like that there's 3 viable federal parties with cross-canada support. I think if it were a 2 party system like in the US the situation for the left would quickly become virtually impossible, like in the US. Having a left/labor party in Canada means that the right wing can't co-opt all the political language, like getting away with calling a ringer-leader like Ignatieff "liberal" and "progressive" or whatever because there's nothing to compare him with and "he's not conservative/reform".

(23,099 posts)Waaah, Palestinians won't just lie down and keep their mouths shut about our systematic campaign to kill and empoverish them and their society. They are the lesser race, why won't they acknowledge us as their superiors.
For all their talk about Germany's atrocities (and that's totally what they were) little murderer sure seems to want to emulate them in some ways.

(26 posts)Israeli defense minister Moshe Yaalon on Tuesday said Israel would attack entire civilian neighborhoods during any future assault on Gaza or Lebanon.
Speaking at a conference in Jerusalem, Yaalon threatened that we are going to hurt Lebanese civilians to include kids of the family. We went through a very long deep discussion we did it then, we did it in [the] Gaza Strip, we are going to do it in any round of hostilities in the future.
The Israeli official also appeared to threaten to drop a nuclear bomb on Iran, although he said we are not there yet.
In response to a question about Iran, Yaalon said that in certain cases when we feel like we dont have the answer by surgical operations Israel might take certain steps such as the Americans did in Nagasaki and Hiroshima, causing at the end the fatalities of 200,000.
Relating a July 2013 meeting with UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon, Yaalon recalled promising Israel would bomb the entire Gaza City neighborhood of Shujaiya.

Lets Talk About Genocide: Shurat HaDin and The Genocide Legalization Conference
This week, the organization Shurat HaDin is having a conference titled Towards a New Law of War. They dont hide where their alliances lie, and on their online conference page (nostalgically illustrated with WWII British bombers) you can find their Western-supremacist and racist agenda stated loud and clear:
exchange ideas regarding the development of armed conflict legal doctrine favorable to Western democracies engaged in conflict against nontraditional, non-democratic, non-state actors.
Shurat HaDin is an Israeli organisation that puts its efforts into suing Israels collaborators in upholding its military occupation, and civil society actors who oppose the occupation:
Shurat HaDin is at the forefront of fighting terrorism and safeguarding Jewish rights worldwide. We are dedicated to the protection of the State of Israel. From defending against lawfare suits fighting academic and economic boycotts and challenging those who seek to delegitimize the Jewish State, Shurat HaDin is utilizing court systems around the world to go on the legal offensive against Israels enemies.

Israeli lawmakers call for genocide of Palestinians gets thousands of Facebook likes
Update, 8 May 2015
In light of Ayelet Shakeds appointment as justice minister in the new Israeli coalition government, and renewed interest in her anti-Palestinian views, an image of her now-deleted Facebook posting has been added below, along with the full and complete translation.
Original post
A day before Palestinian teenager Muhammad Abu Khudair was kidnapped and burned alive allegedly by six Israeli Jewish youths, Israeli lawmaker Ayelet Shaked published on Facebook a call for genocide of the Palestinians.
It is a call for genocide because it declares that the entire Palestinian people is the enemy and justifies its destruction, including its elderly and its women, its cities and its villages, its property and its infrastructure.
It is a call for genocide because it calls for the slaughter of Palestinian mothers who give birth to little snakes.
If Shakeds post does not meet the legal definition of a call for genocide then nothing does.
