John Bowlen, son of Denver Broncos owner, arrested on domestic violence charges

John Bowlen, the 29-year-old son of Denver Broncos owner, Pat Bowlen, was arrested June 3 on domestic violence charges, according to a report today by the Denver Post. Bowlen was held from Wednesday night until Thursday evening in the Arapahoe County Jail for two Class 3 misdemeanors of third-degree assault.
Bowlen was taken into custody shortly after police responded to a dropped 911 call placed from his luxury apartment in Glendale, Colorado. The disconnected call allegedly came from Bowlen’s girlfriend, who dropped her cell phone when he pushed her up against his bathroom wall.
From a Glendale police report, 9News notes that Bowlen’s girlfriend was calling for help after he began ranting about killing an unnamed person he was having an ongoing dispute with. Bowlen’s girlfriend also reported to police that he had been drinking and huffing nitrous-oxide whippits.
When the dispatcher returned his girlfriend’s desperate call, Bowlen answered, saying that everything was fine. During the call, Bowlen went on to mention that he is, “ ... a man of the city, a friend of the mayor and everybody knows exactly who I am.”
