Joseph "Beau" Biden, Delaware's former attorney general and the older son of Vice President Biden who died last week was praised Saturday by President Obama as a "consummate public servant" of "the kind our country was built on."
"He did in 46 years what most us couldn't do in 146 years," Obama told the 1,000 who crowded into Wilmington's St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church for Beau Biden's funeral.
Biden's half-sister, Ashley, praised him in her eulogy as an uncommonly principled public servant and a devoted father, son and brother who even as a boy "took on everyone else's worries" and "etched every fiber of our beings."
And his younger brother, Hunter, spoke touchingly of his very first memory of his brother, when he awoke in a hospital bed following the car crash that had killed their mother and sister, to find Beau "holding my hand and looking into my eyes and saying over and over 'I love you, I love you, I love you.'
