WASHINGTON Growing numbers of Americans are going cashless, but demands to finally put a woman on paper currency persist. And now the Treasury has announced that a portrait of a woman, to be determined soon, will grace the $10 bill.

The note will continue to have some image, also to be determined, of the current $10 honoree, Alexander Hamilton, a founding father (there were, of course, no mothers) and Treasury secretary to President George Washington (he of the $1 bill). Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew, who by law makes the selection of an honoree, will disclose his choice by the end of the year. The new note will appear in 2020 the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

I think that Francis Perkins should be nominated and placed on the new ten dollar bill.

This woman's accomplishment cannot be understated on what she did for millions of Americans that had basically had nothing and lost everything in the early nineteen and twentieth century, when the citizens of this country had no fall back, when they lost there homes, jobs, and wages, unless it was from charities, or families that were in the same condition themselves.

She championed such issues as the Minimum Wage, Unemployment Insurance, and Social Security during the FDR administration and her life prior to becoming the Labor Secretary in his administration.

There is a very good book on this remarkable woman and what she accomplished:

"The Woman Behind the New Deal: The Life and Legacy of Frances Perkins, Social Security, Unemployment Insurance, and the Minimum Wage"

2. For those who are not humor impaired

There will be some who will vote for HRC since to be on currency one must be............well you know.

A disclaimer, I don't want to see her face on a bill (that's not meant to be funny!) in my lifetime.

9. They might one up you and stuff an Effigy with the new $10 bills

Then burn it in the name of freedom or whatever term they use to make themselves feel better.

8. They said this is the first time a woman's pic will be on a U.S. bill.

I've always thought that was Barbara Bush's picture on the $1 bill.
