House advances trade re-vote

Source: The Hill

The House Thursday morning easily cleared a procedural hurdle to re-vote later in the day on giving President Obama fast-track authority to seal trade deals.

A "rule" that sets parameters for floor debate passed on a vote of 244-181. Only one Republican voted against it, while seven pro-trade Democrats broke party lines to support the rule.

The lack of fanfare for Thursday's rule vote stood in contrast to last week, when 34 Republicans nearly derailed the rule for considering the trade package. Eight Democrats ultimately voted at the last minute to save it.

Rules are votes of party discipline, as they are essentially a referendum on the majority party's strategy of handling legislation on the floor.

And, yes, like Lily Tomlin, no matter how cynical I am, I am afraid it is never enough.

I'm always surprised how little info is actually given on these crucial votes by our media. I can get more statistics on sports teams each day than I can get about the results of votes like this.

Could not find it in any article and finally had to go to the House clerk site. That's ridiculous. Even my local newspapers had limited info on how the state reps voted.

8. Bluemenauer should be reminded about how Multnomah county passed the resolution noted here...

in their minutes from March.

They passed a resolution indicating they were AGAINST TPA there in the core county of Portland and his district!

The state had earlier passed this resolution saying NO to Fast Track in 2013 too...

Blumenauer, Bonamici, and Shrader should all be reminded of this to tell them why their earlier votes for TPA were BAD for Oregonians, their constituents of their party, and all Americans!

Mine voted against it, but alas to no avail.

This was railroaded through like nothing else before.

Also, in the quotes; Notice all the crowing by republicans "praising" democrats all of a sudden ( when it comes to fucking over the working class )

Fucking bastards.
