(1,986 posts)You don't know how to use it. It's never the subject of a sentence. And it's acceptable nowadays to use "who" as the object of a verb. So just say "who" all the time. That way, you won't ever have to learn how to use "whom."
And have a nice day.
Yours sincerely,

(14,779 posts)That is what they are checking for, what is going from your body into the toilet. Your body removes these substances all the time, generally in urine. Thus this test is how much of these substances were pissed into the sewer system.

I guess it must justify some jobs, though.

At least this answers some questions as to the impact of a public policy decision on the public. If you're going to have an informed public policy debate, or have technocrats make informed public policy, you need information.

(37,535 posts)Weekend vs. weekday is easy enough to deal with.
But there's no need for them to just sample at the main sewage treatment plant. If they take samples from sewers leading from residential communities and near industrial or commercial areas, that would do. They could then even distinguish between different communities' pot use, grosso modo. (Since it's not sensitive to distribution--a relatively small numbers of heavy uses versus larger numbers of light users, for instance, would provide the same metabolite concentrations.)
In any event, some effects of pot use last more than 24 hours--delayed reaction time and impaired long-term memory formation, for examples.

(1,162 posts)To begin with there's no baseline to start from.
Then you have the issue which is the #1 issue with current testing for pot use - is that a person can test positive 3 to 4 weeks after use - so what does the presence of THC in sewer water going to say?
As someone else already said - it's a witch hunt.
How about testing for alcohol and coming up for reasons to make it illegal again?

(34,189 posts)If not, how can they "determine whether the opening of pot shops increase a community's marijuana use"? Even if they are trying to see if the legalization increases recreational use, how can they measure the people who can now use medical marijuana for non-recreational purposes? I see some serious flaws in the assumptions behind their testing model.
I also question the weekend versus weekday concept. With our economy moving to service based employment a much larger percentage of people are working hours over the entire week rather than concentrated Monday through Friday and nine to five.
