(420 posts)The first time i saw Obama on tv years ago, i said to my DH "i don't like him and i don't trust him"...
But then he said all the right things and was way way better than any repug, so i took a small sip of the kool-aid...
When i was in the grocery store the other day and reading labels on the food like i always do, i had the thought that when this POS passes, all these labels might go away and then what will i do?????
i want to cry or scream or break things

(420 posts)but easier said than done...already buy local as much as possible, but it is extremely seasonal...and we eat a lot of avocados, lemons, and things that won't grow here...and what about wheat and other grains? We're stuck...always buy organic and don't eat out much already...
What the hell happened to the MARKET?? if we demand certain things about our food and are willing to pay, shouldn't we have them? What hypocrites!!

(50,130 posts)I live in Oregon. We grow virtually all of the hazelnuts in the U.S. So why am I seeing hazelnuts from Turkey at my market? Because most of the Oregon nuts are sold to Asia. Same with blueberries, apples, beef, yada yada yada. The best items our farmers grow are sent overseas, and meanwhile prices go UP here.
None of this globalization helps American workers or American families.

(22,651 posts)full of lemons, for a box of your trees apples.
So many lemons every year, I can not even give them all away. Or perhaps you like grapes, figs or huge pecans?
I can not grow tomatoes, I would trade 2 boxes of giant lemons for one box of real tomatoes!

(1,190 posts)Welcome to the "Leveraged States of Corprica" , courtesy of traitorous politicians and big money interests. The final death kneel of America is about to happen , Well we tried to stop it, too bad that the people are the ones who will bear the brunt of this disaster.

(7,770 posts)That's what I was told and retold by denizens of DU.
Yeah, right.
President Obama will sign that Fast Track trade authority stand-alone bill so fast and quiet, a SEAL Team 6 sniper would miss it.

(10,056 posts)The GOP will renege like they always do, and the Democratic 'leadership' will say "what could we do?"

(20,805 posts)....I seriously wonder just how stupid the Dems in congress think we are...
If they mean to pass TAA as long as the TPP gets passed, why not vote on TAA first?
(I think we all know the reason why...)

(70 posts)I think most of the corporate representatives in Congress who vote for this don't really care. If they don't get re-elected they will be taken care of. Strange how some still voted against it? Anyone here ever contribute on HuffPost? There are a lot of people posting polls from early this year showing a small majority supporting TPP, fast track etc... I don't FB so I cannot post there but it would be good if someone could rebut those with newer polls like this one http://fasttrackpoll.info.

(4,413 posts)Yeah, some rules lawyer can go ahead and alert this post for being over the top. You know what? I give the same shit about what you think as much as those sell outs in Congress and the White House give for the concerns of working Americans.
