Donald Trump appears to have deleted a tweet he quoted that made questionable comments about Jeb Bush and his wife.

On July 4th, Trump quoted another users tweet which claimed to know why Bush likes “Mexican illegals.”

The tweet appeared to be live for 24 hours before Trump deleted it. Bush’s wife, Columbia, is Mexican.

Bush responded to Trump’s comments about Mexican immigrants being rapists and drug lords over the weekend.

I think Trump really is a wildly arrogant, attention seeking gasbag. If cameras aren't pointing at him he feels like less a man.

However, his candidacy is starting to worry me. Not because he can get the nomination...he can't. His craziness is starting to resonate with the far right, but this kind of nonsense doesn't have a long enough shelf life or wide enough appeal to get nominated. My concern is his effect on Walker, Bush, and Rubio. Cruz keeps saying he likes Trump, but the powers-that-be in the Republican party know Cruz is a non-starter too. In fact, they probably hope Cruz and Trump try to out-crazy each other while making the awful positions taken by Bush, Rubio, and Walker look a whole lot less awful. It's going to be easy for the saner candidates to look a lot better standing next to the complete lunatics.

I hope Democrats keep their eyes on Walker, Bush, and Rubio and keep hammering them and their positions. Don't get distracted with the sideshow freaks. When the dust settles, it's very likely going to be one of those guys we have to deal with and they are much scarier than Trump and Cruz. The appearance of sanity allows for quite a bit more damage to be done than raving lunacy.

So I don't think he's an intentional stalking horse, but I definitely think he could have that affect anyway.

This is the biggest favor Jab, Marco, and Scott Walker can ask for. They can say they aren't lunatics like Trump and they can sound good doing it. Instant legitimacy.

Then the press can talk about both sides having nuts (false equivalence obviously, but that's the way the spin will go). Then Bush or Walker can tell us how their side has turned away the nuts in favor of the sane and the democrats are nuts too (media will eat it up, if for no other reason than to make sure 2016 is nice and competitive for the sake of ratings).

So, with the help of their lunatics and the media, now either Bush, Walker, or Rubio looks like a real honest-to-god candidate who represents the people. It's disgusting but it works. The dems have to hit these three harder than anyone else. They can't pay any attention to the other nitwits. If, by some miracle, someone like Trump did get the nomination, then we can thank our lucky stars and hammer the arrogant idiot. But it won't happen, so let's ignore Trump and keep going after the ones who matter.
