Diageo to end funding of Heartland Institute after climate change outburst
Source: The Guardian
Diageo, one of the world's largest drinks companies, has announced it will no longer fund the Heartland Institute, a rightwing US thinktank which briefly ran a billboard campaign this week comparing people concerned about climate change to mass murderers and terrorists such as Osama bin Laden, Charles Manson and Ted Kaczynski.

She works on the energy committee there. Her prior qualifications for this

(5,178 posts)Let's see, we are concerned about climate change causing unnecessary suffering, killing massive amounts of lifeforms and generally making life totally unpleasant for those unlucky enough to have to live in our greed feces.
So obviously we are just like serial killers and madmen who hold no concern for anyone but ourselves and our own selfish ends.

(946 posts)And how do they even know what Osama bin Laden, Charles Manson and Ted Kaczynski even think or have thought about gw?
If they're incapable of making rational connections, they're certainly not capable of informing the public on science. The F'd up big on this one.

Please ask Mr. Akerson why GM funds the Heartland Institute, a group that has tried to push misinformation about climate change into our public schools. Is this funding consistent with their companys message in marketing of the Chevy Volt?
Heartland Institutes reaction:
We once again respectfully ask liberal advocacy groups such as Huffington Post, the Center for American Progress, 350.org, and Greenpeace to stop attacking scientists who question the theory of man-made global warming and corporations and foundations that are willing to fund open debate on this important public policy issue.

Another good reason to buy from local, small brewers and distillers. Know where your booze comes from and where your money goes.
