Probe so far finds no ties between Chattanooga shooter, ISIS

Source: CBS

U.S. investigators have not found any significant evidence that Chattanooga shooter Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeezwas directly recruited or directly radicalized by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), sources tell CBS News.

Technicians at the FBI Lab in Quantico, Virginia, continue to go through Abdulazeez's computer and cell phone but nothing major has been detected yet.

"Nothing stands out," one official told CBS News, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The FBI is also investigating the 24-year-old shooter's medical records - family and friends say Abdulazeez was depressed and was on medication at some point.

1. Depression generally doesn't make you murder five Marines and sailors.

They were not random victims. This wasn't a shopping mall shoot-up or workplace violence. The choice of target should guide the FBI more than family's claims of mental illness or anything else.

the DUI, the drugs...something is linking him personally to the victims or to the base or something like that.

Or he just did it as a suicide attempt (like that German pilot that crashed a plane into the mountains recently) and thought, wtf, why not make them think it was ISIS.

Maybe if the CIA weren't so busy snooping on domestic communications, vacuuming up everyone's data, they could concentrate on the outliers. Maybe even go back to spying abroad.

Too easy.

Religion has often been used to disguise the lust for power & money and
to "justify" behaviours that obtain power & money for the winners, the numbers
killed for purely religious reasons are far lower.

Yes, religion is still guilty of horrendous massacres, tortures and so many
inhumanities throughout the ages but the truly genocidal actions have been
done for power/wealth.

If you doubt the depravity of humankind, look no further than what has been
done to the natural world over the last couple of decades, purely for profit
(no religion required).
