Possible Lion Spotted Roaming the Streets of Milwaukee
Source: ABC news
A large feline, possibly a lion, was recently seen roaming the streets of Milwaukee.
Bill Nolen and his wife, Annie, said they saw the animal outside their home.
I was afraid to move, Annie Nolen told ABC affiliate WISN-TV. I was sitting there, and I couldnt move. I thought, What am I looking at?

Authorities with the Department of Natural Resources believe it may be a lioness.
While there have been no other confirmed sightings of the animal, police are not taking the threat lightly.

(9,748 posts)Chicago cop killed a mountain lion in an alley near my house a few years ago. Said he had no choice as it pulled a gun on him.
The lion had been spotted off and on for months moving its way south through the northern suburbs. But nobody believed any of the spotters until the lion was actually killed.

(74,819 posts)too. But it appears broader than the mountain lions that I've seen. Not to say it couldn't be; there could be variations in size in different regions.

(71,819 posts)I hope the lion is captured safely too but the cops might have shoot on sight
orders.
Funny we get an overwhelming police response to one lion that really is not
that much of a threat but 30 people a day day because of guns in America

I hope they do the same there.

(22,651 posts)odd for even a mountain lion to be out during the day, but some people do have large cats hidden in their homes.

(74,819 posts)a woman in rural upstate New York bought a lion. As it reached maturity, it escaped, and was on the loose for about a week. The public was understandably concerned. The owner and her clan were rather anti-social folks, with a pack of attack dogs, weapons, etc.
Eventually, the lion was caught and returned to the owner. At the time, there were no laws that prevented her from having it. Neighbors were afraid, and several called child protective services, believing the the children in their compound were at risk. None of the county folks wanted to venture there, so they contracted with an individual from another agency to do "visits."
Can you guess the identity of the fool who went?

(1,200 posts)Any animal just trying to survive, in what used to be their habitat, is now a threat that most assuredly will be killed. Mountain lion probably. Hungry. Desperate. I hate people....

But maybe that's what ran across the road in front of me in River Hills this morning. [Naw, just a coyote.]

Is someone missing a lion somewhere?

(36,135 posts)And that was a cat, not a lion.

But I suppose the same thought experiment would work for a lion.
jberryhill
(62,444 posts)Schroedinger's cat may be a lion, a housecat, a panther or any other kind of cat, since "cat" is the generic class of "cats" and not any particular kind of cat.
In fact, Schroedinger's cat may be either a lion or a housecat, but your act of observing it will cause it to collapse into one or the other.

(36,135 posts)Heisenberg and Schrödinger get pulled over for speeding.
The cop asks Heisenberg "Do you know how fast you were going?"
Heisenberg replies, "No, but we know exactly where we are!"
The officer looks at him confused and says "you were going 108 miles per hour!"
Heisenberg throws his arms up and cries, "Great! Now we're lost!"
The officer looks over the car and asks Schrödinger if the two men have anything in the trunk.
"A cat," Schrödinger replies.
The cop opens the trunk and yells "Hey! This cat is dead."
Schrödinger angrily replies, "Well he is now."

Warpy
(112,808 posts)who was found by Taco Bell workers opening up for the day, sleeping in front of one of the doors. They said he seemed very tame but hungry.
Turned out he was being transported to some show in Las Vegas, the drivers stopping here and leaving him in the van. A couple of local lads were cleaning out vehicles in the motel lot and broke in, letting the kitty out.
Animal control took the tiger in for feeding and a checkup and charges went every which way except to the thieves, who were never caught.
I'm always amazed by the cool heads at that Taco Bell, just opening a different door and calling Animal Control instead of freaking out. Sometimes I love this town.

But so far, no one has any really clear idea where the (lion? mountain lion?) is from, or where it is now.
