Ex-"Rage" Guitarist (Tom Morello) Threatens To Run Against Rahm
Source: NBC Chicago
Tom Morello, former guitarist of Rage Against the Machine, is living up to his ex-bands name by threatening to run for mayor against Rahm Emanuel.
Morello says Emanuel canceled the permit for a May 18 National Nurses United rally after he was added to the bill. The group originally had permission to march to Daley Plaza but was told to move to Petrillo Music Shell to accommodate changes to your event, including a performance by a nationally known musician and a significantly increased number of expected attendees.
Morello raged against Emanuel to Rolling Stone magazine.
Chicago is my hometown and the mayor is making me feel mighty unwelcome, he said. I dont care what they say or do, Im coming to rock out and speak my mind. We won't be silenced and we won't be stopped. If Rahm Emanuel is so afraid of my popularity in Chicago maybe I should run against him in the next election. See you in the streets.

(11,513 posts)They were asked to move the event after Morello signed on because of the fact that the attendance would be significantly higher than first anticipated. Is that such a big deal? (Not that I don't think Rahm is a chicken shit and I'd love to see Morello run against him.)

(57,936 posts)be able to decide where to hold their event. The point of the whole thing is to get a lot of people out. So if Morello's presence does that, good for the Nurses and good for Morello.
Rahm Emanuel should keep his nose out of the Nurses' event.

(45,558 posts)I am so sick of these political operatives that are destroying the democratic party with their divisive "Fuck 'em, they have no place else to go" approach to politics.
Rahm is just a republican who doesn't have the balls to say that in public...

(4,741 posts)The people of the City of Chicago got a pile of sh**e when they elected that asshat as the mayor. God knows Daley and his cronies were bad enough, but he didn't even grow up in the City. He's from the North Shore and went to New Trier HS. I hope and pray someone will run against him in 2015 and beat his DLC butt back to the North Shore where he belongs...
