The Oath Keepers are using black citizens in Ferguson to make their own political point about guns.

The leader of the group's local chapter told Red Dirt Reportthat the event would likely be held before the end of this month to protest an order last week by law enforcement officers to Oath Keepers to put away their rifles while in city limits.

"Every person we talked to said if they carried they'd be shot by police," said Sam Andrews, head of the Oath Keepers chapter in St. Louis County. "That's the reason we're going to hold this event, and it will be a legal demonstration. I'm sick and tired of law enforcement who doesn't think they have to abide by the law. They're narcissistic and that guy (the county police chief) discredited my men."

He said other Oath Keepers members would surround the black demonstrators as protection.

Although the oath keepers are a group that I find repugnant.

In a very real way a bunch of red necks arming a bunch of black people in america to protect themselves from governmental tyranny is a step forward. Nothing has ever been as scary to the powers that be is a union between poor black and poor whites, especially when they have guns.

I suggest Rob Williman's autobiographical novel "Negros with Guns" for more background on why I am not going to condem this outright.

Their showing a desire to arm blacks suggests to me that their distrust of police and government comes before racial hatred. A baby step forward is still progress I guess.

The Southern Poverty Law Center doesn't have them listed as a race hate group.

20. It is a hard one for me because I am so strongly against guns.

Turns my stomach in fact, but I think in the measure when the white para military group show up, not to shoot black people but to arm them, well I have to at least try to see the situation from Rob Williams pov.

I'm not sure Williams was 100% right, but I am sure he was a lot more right in this thinking than he was wrong.
