Hillary Clinton violated government policy in her use of a personal email server, a federal judge said on Thursday.
We wouldnt be here today if the employee had followed government policy, judge Emmet Sullivan said.
Hearing a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the State Department, seeking access to the records of Clintons staff, Sullivan said that the former secretary of state had hindered States ability to provide records.
Sullivan ordered the department to ask the FBI for any emails relating to the lawsuit that have been recovered from Clintons server but are not in the departments possession.
When a Justice Department lawyer raised concerns about the governments right to search the private email of an official, Sullivan said: There was a violation of government policy.

(1,832 posts)During Thursdays hearing in the State Department case, Sullivan never said precisely how he believed Hillary Clinton violated government policy. But he repeatedly referred to the departments obligation to preserve records under the Federal Records Act of 1950.

Why do people feel the need to resort to rovian tactics on this board? I guess if your preferred candidate can't get the support its ok to deceive?

We wouldnt be here today if this employee had followed government policy, said U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan, apparently referring to Clinton, during a hearing on one of the many Freedom of Information Act lawsuits seeking access to her records as secretary of state.
If you don't follow policy you are violating it.

That he did not say exactly how she violated it does not negate what he did say.
Talk about tactics!

(67,782 posts)....this whole thing was looked into months and months ago, and it has been determined by the people who KNEW the policy that she didn't violate any policy (at the time) And she's not the first Secretary of State (or elected or appointed official) to have stored emails on a personal server.
It's just not going to go anywhere.

White House says Clinton did not heed e-mail policy
Former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton appears to have operated in violation of what the White House said Tuesday was very specific guidance that members of the Obama administration use government e-mail accounts to carry out official business.

I don't think that as much time, energy and tax dollars would have been wasted if this was anyone else but Hillary.
The GOTP has had it in for her since her husband was pres. They can't stand the fact that she's a strong woman with more balls than all of them combined. She's very politically savvy and would make a good president.
That said, Bernie would make a GREAT president.

These attacks on Hillary are swiftboating end of story. Made up bullshit.
Whitewater, the Clinton people stole all the "w keys" from the White House when they left, Vince
Foster was murdered, Bill Clinton was running cocaine, Iraq has WMDs, Al Gore said, "I invented
the internet," Iraq's liberation will spread democracy and freedom through out the mideast, Obama
and Hillary stopped a rescue mission for the Americans in Benghazi, Ohio voted for w Bush in 2004
because people were worried about gay marriage, and on and on ... how many times are we going to
fall for these scams?
The only story here is about the power behind pushing these lies and how our "liberal media" is
more then willing to help.

* John Kerry was awarded the bronze star, the silver star, the purple hearts, and
did not lose one man in some of the most dangerous duty in Vietnam so he was attacked
on his service.
* Hillary was very good Sec. of State and she sent and received lots of emails and tweets
so "they" attack her for doing her job.

(10,297 posts)replacing Reagan/Bush IGs was important, and Clinton paid a price for that. When President Obama enter office, I wrote him a letter urging him to replace all IGs, but I never saw where he did anything but fill vacancies as they removed themselves. If you are sure that these IGs are Obama appointees, then I withdraw my nasty comment about GOPers nosing around. Suggestion: the IGs should look to see if she stole office supplies. Everyone takes their stapler when they leave.

(26,081 posts)GW and Cheney were found to have a private email server used to communicate with the CIA. They destroyed the PC's and servers to prevent anyone from finding out what they had on there. What did we hear from Repugs or Justice - crickets. They completely violated the law and no one cared one fucking bit. Let a Dem do something, not even nearly as bad, and they bring down the house and the msm is all over it. I'm just so fucking sick of this.

(26,081 posts)Of course, don't trust the media one bit on this and some of what I've heard I know are complete lies. Benghazi was nothing, yet rw and msm keep harping on that. I'm hoping this is about the same, but, unfortunately, it doesn't look that way at this point.

(45,251 posts)as SOS, Hillary did not? She had the server wiped, which means people get to see what she wants them to see.
lark
(26,081 posts)They released none and didn't just wipe the server but had it destroyed. Also, this was found in a memo at the CIA, so really reeks. Clinton is being investigated, nothing, absolutely nothing was done due to GW and Cheney's actions. That's the huge elephant in the room that I was referencing.
merrily
(45,251 posts)So is choosing what to release. How about you investigate me and I get to decide what you see? How do you think I'm going to come out in that investigation.
Another elephant in the room. Petraeus got prosecuted.

Much like Gerald Ford cut deals with Nixon, I think that it sucked then in Nixon's time, and it sucks now with Cheney/Bush. But, we don't have a fledgling new president coming in now. That is a year and a half away. So, if someone breaks rules or the law, they should get prosecuted, charged, investigated, whatever.
lark
(26,081 posts)This wasn't part of the after office "pardon" given in effect by Obama and Pelosi and still there was no action taken to investigate and no noise in msm.

(16,104 posts)two out of three presidents who promoted this judge were Republican - if that was the purpose of mentioning him as a Clinton appointment.
When a president has a judicial opening very often you have to plug in the most qualified to fill the position. The lifetime appointment and Senate "advice and consent" was designed to influence judges and appointees to be more fair and impartial, and much less political.
However, sometimes they tend to swing left, and sometimes they tend to swing right, as we well know.
This judge seems to lean and give credence to the right on multiple issues.
That should be mentioned.
