Update, 2:25 p.m.: ABC reports that Flanagan sent a 23-page fax identified as a "Suicide Note for Friends and Family" to ABC News at 8:26 a.m. Wednesday morning. The document, ABC says, complains of discrimination that Flanagan has faced as a "gay, black man" and cites the June 17 Charleston church shooting as the "tipping point" that motivated Flanagan to kill Parker and Ward. (Flanagan is believed to have accused Parker of making racist remarks and had accused a past employer of racial discrimination.) The document also reportedly expresses solidarity with the perpetrators of past massacres at Virginia Tech and Columbine High School in Colorado.

No links - I'll try to find more info. HERE we go:
The Tallahassee Democrat published this story on Flanagan's lawsuit in 2000:
A local television anchor-reporter, slated to lose his job with Tallahassee's NBC affiliate in two weeks, has filed a racial discrimination suit against the station --- alleging that news producers and other managers made offensive remarks about blacks and fired him for complaining about it.

MONETA, Va. -- The man suspected in a shooting that killed two and injured another during a live television report in Virginia has ties to Tallahassee.
A former WTWC employee confirmed that Vester Flanagan worked at WTWC in Tallahassee from March of 1999 to March of 2000. The station also confirmed that Flanagan had filed a complaint regarding racial discrimination against the station but the case was settled.
Flanagan went by the name Bryce Williams on air.
Flanagan was an anchor and reporter, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Stellar
(5,644 posts)Especially to those congress critters that are receiving an 'A' from the NRA...there has to be a way. I am fed up with the killings. I think that there are more than enough people in the country that would appreciate getting these guns out of the hands of the criminally insane and offer more laws before anyone can carry a weapon.
Maybe sending email/letters to those congress-critters where they would be receiving hundreds and thousand a day plus telephone calls every day until we can make it STOP!
A dumb idea I guess, but I just don't know what else to do.

Wonder why he wasn't known by his own name on air ... Lee Flanagan and
Bryce Williams both have harmony to them
Seems like a lot of career and relationship involvement at that station. He
may have perceived collusion where there was only familial loyalty.

Solidarity with VT and Columbine? Yeah, okay. That helps his case loads.
