Mitt Romney: Bank Of America Protesters Too Young 'To Really Understand' Economy

Source: Huffington Post

Mitt Romney said the protesters rallying against Bank of America in Charlotte this week are too young "to really understand how the economy works."

“Unfortunately, a lot of young folks haven’t had the opportunity to really understand how the economy works, and what it takes to put people to work in real jobs, and why we have banks, and what banks do," Romney told WBTV in Charlotte, according to National Journal. "It's a very understandable sentiment if you don't find a job, and you can’t see rising incomes. You're going to be angry and looking at someone to blame."

Romney said the protesters' blame should be targeted at "the president and the old school liberals that have not gotten this economy turned around." He made a not-so-subtle 2012 push, insisting he's the one who "understands how to get the economy going again."

The protesters -- which included Occupy Wall Street activists, environmentalists, pro-union advocates and victims of home foreclosures -- held massive demonstrations outside of Bank of America's shareholder meeting in Charlotte on Wednesday. Occupiers saw the event as a trial run ahead of September's Democratic National Convention, which will have an increased police presence thanks to a City Council ordinance from earlier this year.

Mitt Romney wants to talk about the economy? During his tenure as governor from 2003 to 2007, Massachusetts ranked 47th among states for job creation.

Ritt Momney is 3x my age, but even I have more sense than he does in knowing to stop doing things to the economy that have failed to get us back on track (such as cutting programs and giving tax breaks to the rich).

What a noxious blowhard! I'll bet they're also old enough to know that super wealthy assholes with homes and caddys and dressage horsies by the dozen should do the right thing and not hide their taxable cash in places like the Caymans and Switzerland.

What you also should know, people reading this, is that YES--MA ranked 47th in job creation....AND....that bastard RAN ON JOB CREATING. He did the very same condescending, noxious bullshit with his opponent, who was female, suggesting that she wasn't sufficiently business-savvy to create jobs like HE could. Things got WORSE, not better, under his watch--he was completely unable to deliver on his promises. It's something that should get more play the closer we get to November.

Sat May 12, 2012, 09:49 PM

According to Wikipedia, while Romney was head of Bain Capital they bought 68 companies.

33 of them either broke even or lost money, a 52 percent success rate.

Of the 33, 17 of those companies went into bankruptcy.

Bain lost 100 percent of its investment in six of those deals.

Romney's biggest problem when it comes to the economy isn't that the "old school liberals" haven't gotten the economy pumped up enough to afford another innumerate Republican president like Romney, it's that anyone with an Internet connection and the will to do so can spend five minutes and find out you can invest better than Romney by getting drunk and throwing darts at the Pink Sheets.

Even Willard's record on job creation is a pathetic failure. But for some reason he expects us to believe that this time it will have different results.

You would think someone who had the benefit of a good education....with an MBA and JD from Harvard would engage in a more critical analysis.

First of all Mittens, the biological ages of the protesters varies widely. They are not all 20-somethings. Of course you think that until the 20-somethings have been whipped into submission to their corporate masters as employees they are unworthy of public speech.

Secondly, I'm sure you would gladly send 20-somethings off to their deaths in our military if it served your corporate masters.

You are a hypocrite and, unfortunately I believe, a liar. You weave to and fro avoiding your previous statements and then create history out of pure cloth. I pray the American electorate sees you for what you are...a snake oil salesman and nothing more.
