Bristol Palin Receives Death Wishes Over Obama Blog Post

Source: Huffington Post

Bristol Palin has received death wishes in response to a blog post she wrote about President Obama's gay marriage announcement last week.

In a new post, Bristol shares a screen grab from some of the blog comments that did not make it up on the site. There are a couple of "kill yourself" requests, a "you're an argument for abortion" and worse. One commenter wishes death upon the whole Palin family.

"You all, including your son, deserve a slow, painful and miserable death," the commenter wrote. "Your backwards thinking is so sad because the world is moving forward and you will certainly be left behind. May death be upon you."

At issue was Bristol's take on Obama's decision to support gay marriage. Last week she criticized him for being influenced by his wife and daughters on the issue:

While it’s great to listen to your kids’ ideas, there’s also a time when dads simply need to be dads. In this case, it would’ve been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that’s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage. Or that – as great as her friends may be – we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids’ worldview.

I mean how could she? She talks about how important it is to have the father in a child's life and yet she won't let Levi have visitation with the kid she had with him. So either she's a hypocrite or she didn't write the post.

Even still - why anyone would bother with death threats over a clueless person like that is beyond me. Really, we're better than that.

First off, 'stupid bitch' is pretty insulting.

But second, you seem to argue that death wishes are a fair response to RW opinions. That's a scary and wrong-headed argument. The proper response to a RW argument is a LW argument that counters it with facts. Resorting to hateful language and wishing death means the respondent is an asshole and also either too stupid or too lazy to refute the actual argument.

Come on, this is the internet we're talking about where death threats and wishes are common these days. You twitter something stupid, or blog something iffy, the ugly comments follow. It's shocking, but I will go out on a limb here and say the R's are much uglier at the threats, but going after the Obama girls was just palin stupid.

The Palin's love to stir up shit and then cry victim.

I don't care if the girl wrote the thing or not, or if her parents are horrid or she's a Kardassian wannabe. Death threats are horrible, disgusting assaults on a person and they're frankly as harmful to the perpetrators and those others who read them as to the target. The Palins are pros at publicity. They will use it even as they might feel uneasy. But ragers cause harm all the way around and there are lines whose crossing creates all kinds of unseen damage.

On DU and elsewhere.

Tue May 15, 2012, 02:25 PM

Her claims to fame are:

1) Being the daughter of an increasingly irrelevant political figure. Remember predictions that Sarah Palin would have power as a 'kingmaker?' How relevant was she in the Republican primary process? If you answered 'almost not at all,' you'd be correct. She has very little power or influence on the political process.

2) Having a child at a young age.

3) Being on Dancing with the Stars.

4) Writing a crappy blog.

That's your definition of 'a danger to the nation?'

I was actually talking about Bristol anyway.

But I would still argue that Sarah is not particularly relevant. Her plans to be a kingmaker don't seemed to have worked out for her. She's not totally irrelevant, but she's not the player many predicted she would become. At least I don't think she is. I see little evidence that she has much influence on political discourse. She's one voice out of many.

As you know, there's never been the slightest connection established between Loughner and this map. Nor is using the language of war in politics at all unusual. You see it on DU everyday. But keep on repeating this nonsense if you like.

I agree, as much as I disagree with what the Palin family stands for, mostly publicity, it is counter productive to wish her and her child death wishes. How does that make us better than them. You can disagree with what she says and even make fun of the hypocrisy of it, such as fathers helping to shape their kid's worldview. That is hypocrisy in two ways, she's not with Levi, and does she think she has a world view? But to wish her death goes too far.

They're trying to prime her to get into repig politics as a future candidate, and this will be part of her "famous courage" and "surviving libruls' attacks.

Last I heard she was living in SIN, outside of marriage, while pushing "traditional 'values'" for everyone else.

welcome to the fish bowl of celebrity.

Bristol grew up in a dysfunctional family. One which she will never ever be able to leave. And now has to live with, right or wrong for the rest of her life. One could argue that she could be her own person and break away from failin quitter. That's a nice fantasy but the reality is and I think we all know this deep down, all those who orbit the planet of failin quitter are forced to be an enabler. Bristol isn't the brightest bulb in the lot and frankly, with no education, the inability to grift like her mom and her very limited talent level, she really has no other recourse than to be a water carrying tool.

Sadly, she's a train wreck and not even 25 years old yet. She can thank her parents for that.
