1 Los Angeles beach remains closed over waste
Sep 25, 9:59 PM EDT

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- One of two Los Angeles beaches closed after waste, which included hypodermic needles, washed ashore has reopened.

El Segundo Beach reopened Friday evening, while adjacent Dockweiler State Beach remained closed.

Waste, including tampon applicators and condoms, was spotted at Dockweiler on Wednesday, leading to that beach's immediate closure and El Segundo's the next day. Excessive bacteria levels also were found in the water.

Sanitation District spokeswoman Tonya Durrell said Thursday that crews collected at least 200 pounds of waste from the beaches. Officials believe it was discharged from a pipeline belonging to the city-owned Hyperion Treatment Plant.

I would see this kind of garbage wash ashore. I would promptly leave.
I don't know if some company was dumping it out at sea, or what? It was in the news for quite some time, and I believe that was the thought.
Sick people, man.
