Kansas officer's gesture brings homeless man to tears

Source: AP

ROELAND PARK, Kan. (AP) — Touched by the plight of a homeless man forced to walk several hours a day to his job, a Kansas police officer stepped up with a gesture that brought the man to tears.

Roeland Park officer Zack Stamper says he was just doing his job last week when he gave Samuel Meixueiro a bicycle to ride to and from the man's work as a liquor store cashier. Stamper threw in a duffel bag to replace Meixuero's suitcase, which had a broken zipper.

The kindness drew tears from Meixueiro, who says he's been staying in a church while trying to save money for an apartment.

FULL short story at link.

I hope this man can afford an apartment soon. So much for the repuke myth that homeless people don't want to work! I'd like to see their lazy asses walk that far every day to a job.

Out in Johnson County, KS which backs up to Kansas City. The police in all the small towns around here tend to be pretty nice.

Actually, the KC police are pretty nice if you aren'tin the really rough parts of town.
