DU'ers- Why no outrage? Obama told us he would have us out of Iraq and Afghanistan before his end of term. I don't care what is happening on the ground- what good will another extension of a large number of American ground troops do? Vietnam deja vu- if these people are not ready to defend their country after 10+ years of intensive training, they obviously never will. Obama has let true progressives down so many times. He is simply another mainstream, corporatist Democrat. A dolphin on the Democatic POTUS ticket would have got elected in 2008. "Obamacare" simply makes the biggest, richest insurance companies even bigger and richer. Back to Afghanistan and Nigeria- now we are sending troops to fight Boko Haram. Are they fundamentalist sociopaths? Yes. Is it our problem? No. We will never, ever find common ground with mainstream Islam until we denounce the illegal Zionist settlements, cut military aid to Israel and funnel the savings into development of a Palestinian state, and stop our military interventions into sectarian fueled wars worldwide. We need to GET OUT of Iraq, Afghansistan, stop meddling in Syria, and leave Africa to its' own fate. Our troubles here demand our money and attention. We have sat by and watched a POTUS be illegally installed by the SCOTUS, another POTUS election stolen in Ohio, and we continue on pissing away billions in foreign aid and military operations, while our infrastructure crumbles around our ears. The generation that fought WWII, from which volunteers emerged to fight the fascists in the Spanish civil war, would NEVER have sat around and allowed any of this. What is wrong with us? Please- the above question is not rhetorical in nature. I really want to know what has happened to the American spirit personified by FDR, Henry Wallace, John and Robert Kennedy.

4. IMO I think we are in the exact situation that was the logical

result of going into the ME in the first place. And what we have created in the ME is not going away just because we want it to. I hate war. Learned to hate it when my uncles were fighting in WWII and another in Korea.

We took an area that we did not understand and went in as if they had invited us to take over. We have helped to destroy a great deal of the infrastructure of the ME and left most of the countries without a strong ruler to keep the religious wars at bay. And the real problem is that we do not know how to get out. And the war has moved to almost all the countries in that area.

We are in big trouble and if anyone has an answer on how to get out of this without more war please tell us. I for one think the only thing that will change this is if something like climate change get so damned bad we all decide that Bernie is right about what our biggest threat is not the people in the ME.

Rachel is talking about this issue right now. She doesn't have any answers either.
