Mizzou Staff Member Placed on Leave for Intimidating, Blocking Student Photographer

The University of Missouri on Wednesday announced Director of Greek Life, Janna Basler, one of the staff members involved in forcibly preventing a student journalist from covering Monday’s protests on campus, has been place on administrative leave.

Basler and assistant professor Melissa Click were caught on film organizing students to physically and verbally intimidate student photographer Tim Tai to prevent him from taking pictures of the protesters assembled on the quad. Basler at 2:00 minutes in the video above can be seen personally blocking Tai from taking pictures. On Tuesday, Basler issued a statement apologizing.

4. Lacking tenure she is easy to fire

The other journalism professor is an Assistant Professor who does not yet have tenure.

I have to think that her tenure prospects will not be helped by her intimidating and unprofessional behavior.

7. It's mind boggling that Click, a communications asst. professor

would not understand the wrongfulness of her actions against students who were members of the press.

Basler, the staff member placed on leave, clearly acted inappropriately as well.

She'll go up for tenure (she is an Assistant Professor) and probably be denied.

in academia that means you are basically fired.
