Ben Carson's own advisers admit he cannot grasp "intelligent information" about Middle East

"It is apparently impossible for Ben Carson to grasp even "one iota of intelligent information about the Middle East."Thats according to Carsons own national security and terrorism adviser, Duane R. Clarridge, who decided to reveal to The New York Times that Carson is struggling mightily with the basics of foreign policy. Clarridge said Carson needs weekly tutorials so we can make him smart, but to no avail. Another adviser, Armstrong Williams, told the Times that the lessons arent just getting through. Hes been briefed on it so many times, Williams said of a recent flub in which Carson was unable to name the countries he would call on to join a coalition against ISIS. I guess he just froze.
While we appreciate their honesty, its still pretty amazing that Clarridge and Williams would just offer these details to the paper of record. We can only surmise that they considered it their patriotic duty to make sure the public is informed.
Update: The Carson campaign says the Times, in speaking to Clarridge, had taken advantage of an elderly gentleman, who has incomplete knowledge of the daily briefings Carson receives."

Ben Carson's own advisers think he's too stupid to do the job.
Not just a liar, a dumb liar!
Where does the GOP find its frontrunners, anyway?

(2,382 posts)... even a bloodthirsty sociopath with the moral compass of a hyena can look at the careening juggernaut of the Carson campaign and say, "Okay, this is where I get off! A lifetime of committing murder and mayhem for the most evil agency America has ever produced in one thing, but this guy's just batshit CRAZY!"

(11,550 posts)I can't believe someone like him would be telling these things about his employer unless he had already been fired and was using it as payback, or else there was some ulterior motive.
In any case, yeah, Ben Carson is an absolute moron and doesn't belong within a thousand miles of the White House.

(1,730 posts)concepts, has scared even his closest advisers. Now they're warning the country that Carson is seriously lacking in areas of knowledge that are required for being the president.
This kind of thing occurred after McCain/Palin lost - close advisers relayed insider stories that confirmed that yes, Sarah Palin is dumber than a box of rocks and is mentally unstable.
Now it seems like advisers realize how close they came to inflicting catastrophic leadership on this country, and are now being forthcoming about fatal flaws in their candidates PRIOR to voting.

(38,437 posts)This is interesting info, but why would Clarridge leak this incredibly damaging information?
That would be rare.

Actual knowledge of, ahem, world politics would seem to be a merely optional requirement for Republican candidates seeking the Presidency.
Honestly, I've never seen even the wildest political satire present a scenario where someone seeking the Presidency as an entry level political job whose own advisors admit he's an ignoramus emerges as a frontrunner candidate.

(250 posts)Josh Marshall at Talking Points Memo has speculated that Carson's candidacy may be a fundraising scheme disguised as a political bid which went horribly wrong - or horribly right - and ended up producing a frontrunner candidate.
