Sanders campaign says it has more women donors than Clinton
Source: Washington Post
As of the last reporting period at the end of September, some 301,154 women gave money to Sanders in his quest for the Democratic presidential nomination, according to his campaign. That would top the approximately 240,000 women who have given money to Clinton since she launched her campaign....
Symone Sanders, a spokeswoman for the Sanders campaign, said the number shows "the grassroots enthusiasm for Senator Sanders is unmatched by any other candidate. The fact that so many women have decided to donate to the senator's campaign says that his policies and record are indeed resonating with women across the country."...
Sanders claims more than 689,000 individual donors to nearly 400,000 for Clinton. That means that the former secretary of state still can brag that a higher percentage of her contributors are women -- 60 percent versus 44 percent for Sanders.

(598 posts)That's interesting. I know quite a few women who say they will vote for Hillary. I also know an equal number of women who are for Bernie. It's nice to see they have some real numbers on this.

On the Democratic side Hillary Clinton leads with 59% to 26% for Bernie Sanders and 7% for Martin O'Malley. Our last national poll without Joe Biden in it was in July and at that time we found Clinton leading Sanders by 35 points at 57/22. These numbers suggest not a whole lot has changed in terms of the overall contours of the race since that time.
Clinton's leading within every demographic group on the Democratic side but it's closer with some segments of the electorate than others. She leads Sanders just 50/36 with white voters, but is up 70/13 with African Americans and 84/8 with Hispanics. She leads Sanders just 47/32 with men, but is up 69/22 with women. She leads Sanders just 53/32 with younger voters, but is up 66/17 with seniors. And she leads Sanders by just 17 with 'very liberal' voters at 56/39, but is up 34 with moderates at 56/22, and 49 points with 'somewhat liberal' voters at 72/23.

I know it's your job to keep spirits up, but unless those "women donors" can replicate themselves (x4), the BS campaign is just blowing smoke.

(34,648 posts)And I ALWAYS make it to the polls. Early too. Plan on taking my youngest to vote for hillary just like I took my oldest to vote for Obama. That way I can show them the pictures of them helping mommy make history... So cute!!

(31,454 posts)I mean, come on. Like I said, I understand the need for BS supporters to try & lift each other's spirits, but some things are just ridiculous on their face. He plateaued, and the much ballyhooed "debates" haven't turned out the way they wanted. BS has one "angry" speed, and primary voters have noticed.

The Democratic presidential rivals are running much different campaigns -- with Clinton's staffing levels and early television advertising buys in Iowa and New Hampshire built around a $100 million fundraising goal for 2015 that she expects to meet, and Sanders still ramping up his organizing efforts.
Not showing up on the report are the 97,800 donations worth a total of $3.2 million that Sanders' campaign said have come in since Tuesday night's Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas.
Sanders has now received donations from 650,000 people -- only 270 of whom have given the maximum allowed $2,700. The average donation was $30.
Jeff Weaver, Sanders' campaign manager, noted that the candidate can go back to those people for more cash. "Bernie's big base of small donors may give again and again," he said. "What is clear now is that this campaign to transform America will have the resources to fight all the way to the convention."

(309 posts)be nice if democratic voters could quit bitching about our candidates and vow to unite for whichever one of them is the nominee. Any of our candidates are so much better than all of theirs. I've been here since early in DU's existence and this place has helped me stay sane many times, but primary years just flat out suck around here.

Bernie Sanders has been fighting the good fight since he's been fighting. That to me is a big PLUS.
