Venezuela opposition party says regional official slain

Source: WBAY, ABC affiliate in Green Bay, WI

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — A Venezuelan opposition party says one of its regional officials was shot to death at a campaign rally for next week’s congressional elections.

Democratic Action party leader Carolos Prosperi tells The Associated Press that the shooting happened Wednesday night in the central Venezuela town of Altagracia de Orituco in Guarico state. Prosperi says he heard gunshots as the rally was breaking up and the party’s leader for the town, Luis Manuel Diaz, was hit.

Because the only way Madumo can stay in power; to get rid of all the opposition.

But I'm sure the CIA actually killed this guy to try to pin it on the government. Because the CIA runs ALL the opposition. Or so I'm told

And at this point they don't even hide the fact, with armed Chavistas wearing masks in daily photos terrorizing the population.

The election will almost certainly be rigged to give the Chavista's just enough votes to hang on to power - even though they've utterly destroyed the country and are about as popular as colon cancer at this point.

But the usual Chavez/Maduro defenders will be in here defending all this because, for them, the ends justify the means. Socialism or bust for that crowd.

The spreads are too far and the chavistas in power have too low ratings.

The Chavista regime, especially now under Maduro, has become a violent and oppressive entity. And yet there are useful idiots here who eat up all the BS propaganda that comes out of their mouths.

And then Venezuela can get back to being run by those who are supposed to run it: Rich white guys with Ivy League educations who look handsome and enact rightist policies.

Sorry to all you other posters who are spoiling for a fight.

Those of us who actually have been to Venezuela and understand what's causing its slow but steady collapse know that it's really about removing the most corrupt regime that has ever existed in the country's history, and hopefully replacing it with people with an actual education and preparation (Maduro never even went to college) who actually DO give a damn about making the country work for its people rather than for their own pockets. Doesn't take a genius to see how many millions the Maduro, Chavez, and Cabello families are worth now (and somehow they managed this with a public servant salary. Nothing suspicious about that at all, right? Sure as hell doesn't sound like what a left-wing group of leaders would do)

Tell me, would you want someone like the populist pig of Maduro being the president of the United States? Have you actually seen his public speeches? The man uses vulgar and violent language, which even Chavez himself used back when he was alive. The PSUV leadership is composed of nothing more than a bunch of resentful assholes who have no notion of respect or dignity, and are quicker to insult their opponents than actually answer back at them with a logically thought-out response, and it's always been like that under the Chavista regime, which is nothing more than a populist kleptocracy run by a bunch of cowards hiding behind their army of personal bodyguards who have disrespected so many more people than just Venezuelans in general, represses freedom of speech, curbs freedoms, and only dug themselves deeper every year to the point that if they lose their positions of power, they would be put in a jail cell after only a few weeks of investigation. Now that you don't want to see that, well, that's another story.

This is the first I heard of this and it puts a new light on him as well as his supporters. Sure, some defend him to support Venezuela's sovereignty.

A kleptocracy is nothing to cheer about, nor is speech by a national leader that inspires anti-democratic actions.

George Orwell wouldn't have approved of what Maduro is doing to his country.

Rightist politicians don't do too well if things are good.

But the Maduro government is corrupt, brutal, jails dissenters, and is running the economy into the sewer.

This makes it ripe for a right-wing takeover, *NO* help needed from any outside group, like the CIA.
